Vacation, Day 3: Old Town San Diego, Part 2:

Outdoor activities

There was a center square in Old Town with volunteers in period clothing picnicking and running a game area. The kids had a great time there. I think their favorite part of the day was rolling the hoops with sticks (see below).

They also really liked the cannon in the square. All of them took turns sitting on it and looking inside, but some of my boys felt they were too old for me to put the pictures out in cyberspace, so these will have to do.




The boys really enjoyed learning to roll the hoops with the stick, but it wasn't as easy as it looks in these pictures. It didn't take them too long to get the hang of it (maybe 5 minutes), but they thought they could just step in and roll the hoops like a pro.

After a couple minutes, they started to get the hang of it (kind of. AJ got it almost right away, and David was doing pretty well.).
