December 2009
Dearest Friends and Family,
Merry Christmas! What a joyous season this is when we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ!
We hope this letter finds you well. We've had an eventful year and would like to provide a brief update. In July, we moved out of our rental home and into an apartment, and we began searching for a new home to purchase. We have been blessed to find a beautiful home in the area we desired to live in and, if all goes as planned, will move in near the end of January 2010.
John is currently serving in the Elder's Quorum presidency and has enjoyed it immensely. On the employment front, he has worked steadily this past year on several interesting projects including Transformers and Percy Jackson. He will begin work on Tron in January, and his current company has work for him through Summer 2011. We feel very blessed that John has steady employment, especially during these difficult financial times.
Laurie was called as Relief Society President in August, and she finds great joy in serving the members of her ward. She is enjoying this season in her life when the children are at school during the day, which allows her more time to concentrate on her calling.
Jacob graduated from Academy of the Canyons HS in June. He was attending college and high school concurrently and had completed 27 college credits when he graduated from high school. He is attending College of the Canyons and plans to transfer to a UC school when he completes his associates degree.
David is thriving as a junior at Golden Valley High School. His course schedule is much more manageable than last year. He's doing very well. David is also enjoying seminary (an early morning church class), and he has been on time almost everyday this school year.
Michael started junior high this year at La Mesa. He currently has straight A's on his report card and loves his band class. Michael is learning to play the alto saxophone and just found out he's advancing to intermediate band in January.
A.J. started third grade in August, the day before his 8th birthday. He loves his teacher and has many good friends at school. A.J. was invited to join the GATE (gifted) program this school year. In September, he was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Again, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with love, laughter, family, and friends.
Love,
The Nguyen Family
