"Christ in a Red Robe" by Minerva Teichert

John and I have been searching for a new picture of the Savior to put in our new home. We saw this one at the Book Castle, and were thrilled to receive a 20% off coupon for their General Conference Sale. I picked it up on Friday afternoon.

It makes such a difference to see this when we walk into the house. As this is a print of the picture found in the Los Angeles Temple, it makes my home feel more peaceful and heavenly. I love it.

I took a few pictures of it, but none of them do it justice. If you'd like to come over and see it, just give me a holler.

A Day at the Bowling Alley

We've been so busy lately with our church callings and moving ourselves into the new house that we thought it was time to do something fun as a family. We went to a local bowling alley and enjoyed an afternoon of "bowling madness."

We had a great time!

More Gardening

We've been trying to improve our yard the past few weeks by turning the sprinklers on, fertilizing, pulling weeds, etc. While it's not looking great, we finally felt the grass was growing well enough we could cut it. Since we have so little grass, we didn't feel it was worth using a gas or electric mower, so we bought a manual mower. Honestly, it is much easier to use and lighter than our old gas mower.

Here are a couple photos of it's inaugural use. (Note: In the first picture, there is a "dirt" planting bed. I was weeding that last week and it just about killed me. Well, not really, but there were some flowers that were taking over everything. The roots took over the entire bed. Hopefully, I'll get some new flowers in there this week.)

A Windy Easter Egg Hunt/Pancake Breakfast

Our ward Primary put on a wonderful Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt at a nearby park. It was a lot of fun.

To add to the excitement, it was incredibly windy yesterday. As the food was cooked on campstoves, wind complicated that. The flames kept going out, so a blanket "shield" was created.

Breakfast went beautifully, and, ironically enough, almost as soon as the cooks finished, the wind died down considerably.

More Basketball for David

The second game of David's Varsity/Venture tournament was last Friday. There were more boys in attendance, but the team still struggled a bit. They had a good time despite the loss.

AJ's Spirit Assembly

A.J. was honored at the spirit assembly in February. He received an award for "scholarship." He received a great score on his writing prompt for 3rd grade benchmark testing.

A.J. really didn't want me to take his picture, but I managed to snap a few.

Okay, I know this is a bit mean, but...

I am always amazed at what parents will do to get a good picture at events. Last night, at Michael's National Junior Honor Society induction, there was a woman crawling up the aisle in her business suit and high heeled shoes. I couldn't resist snapping a picture or two.

Michael's Induction to the National Junior Honor Society

Michael was invited to join the National Junior Honor Society earlier this year due to his grade point average (4.0). He had to complete 10 hours of community service within a certain time frame in order to be accepted. Last night, he was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.

We are so proud of him!

Varsity/Venture Basketball Tournament

David is participating in the Varsity/Venture Scout Basketball Tournament. It's just for fun and involves our stake and a few of the surrounding stakes. Here are a couple of photos from their first game on Saturday.

The Habit

A new burger place opened near our house about a year ago, and we have become frequent customers. It's called "The Habit." We went there on Saturday and enjoyed a lovely lunch.

Gardening

Now that we are homeowners again, I've decided to garden again. I've started tomatoes and peppers, and will move them outside once they've sprouted and are growing strong. Here is my second attempt at starting the plants in egg cartons. (My first attempt was going well, but I'd put them outside on a beautiful day, but forgot to bring them in when torrential El Nino rains started. Needless to say, they were ruined.)

I promised more pictures, and here they are!

Here are some more pictures of the house. This is our almost finished Master Bedroom.
