Buffalo Wild Wings

Ever since David's first year at BYU, he's been raving about Buffalo Wild Wings.  He wanted us to go, because he was sure we'd love it as much as he does.  So, over Christmas break, we finally took the plunge.

It was pretty good (even though I don't eat wings), and everyone enjoyed their meals.

Morrison's Meat Pies

While growing up, whenever we visited my grandparents' homes in Utah, my parents would stop by and pick up some Morrison's meat pies.  They're Scottish meat pies, and they are yummy!

Living in California, it's not easy to stop by Morrison's in Utah to pick them up, so I decided to try to make them myself.

Mine is focused on food storage, cooking, gardening, etc.

We'd love it if you'd take a few minutes to check them both out.  Thanks!

Corner Bakery Cinnamon Creme Coffee Cake

I had some extra sour cream in the fridge and needed to use it, so I decided to make a knock-off recipe for Corner Bakery's Cinnamon Creme Coffee Cake.

It turned out so yummy!

Mason Jars: A Love Affair

I love Mason jars!  I found some unique ones on Goodwill's auction site within the past year and have started using them all over my kitchen.

So, when I saw some Mason Jar measuring cups on Cost Plus World Market's website, I wanted them! Only problem was they were sold out, so I decided to try our local store.  Thankfully, they had one set left (which is now mine).  I LOVE them!  Don't you?

You Just Never Know WHO You're Going To Run Into At Cafe Rio!

We went to Cafe Rio in Spanish Fork when we were in Utah for General Conference.  We called Mandi and invited her to come to dinner with us.  She'd already eaten, but she stopped by with Hailey to say hello.

And who else did I run in to?  Amy and Tim Ewell!  It's a small world, huh?

It's BACON!!!

Some good friends of ours know how much my boys like bacon, so they bought a variety of bacon "treats" from the Charlie Brown store in Littlerock, CA.  They were a lot of fun!

Invaders!

It has been a constant battle to keep my garden free from rabbits and caterpillars this year!

I put up some green plastic (in a grid pattern) to keep the rabbits out of my backyard.  It worked for a while, then I found a rabbit in my backyard (which should be impossible).  When I investigated, I found this:

Take note of the green plastic pieces on the ground.  The rabbit chewed it's way through!

After seeing this, I noticed that my pepper plant near my gate was being eaten.  I thought it was the rabbits, but I was wrong!  I have more hornworm caterpillars!

Thankfully, they didn't eat any peppers!

My Garden Haul

My garden has really started growing, and I've been able to harvest some produce this week and last.  It is delicious!

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!

Okay, it's not a chicken dinner, but we did win some free cupcakes!  Bake You Happy posted a picture on Facebook and announced that the first few people to visit their store mentioning the giveaway would win free goodies.  We won four, YUMMY cupcakes!  Thanks, Bake You Happy!

Pecan Pie

I'd never had pecan pie, so I decided to make one and try it out.  It turned out beautifully, but I've decided I only like the crispy top part (because it tastes like pecan brittle).  A friend sent me a chocolate pecan pie recipe, so I'm going to try that out before I declare that I do not like pecan pie.

Here are some pictures of my first attempt at a pecan pie.

My Garden is Growing, Bugs are Attacking, and My First Harvest!

I know you'll tire of this soon, but here are some more pictures of my garden.  It's growing beautifully!  (Especially considering how late in the season I planted it.)

But there is opposition in all things.  I found another Tomato Hornworm Caterpillar and a cute little grasshopper.  I got rid of the caterpillar, but I let the grasshopper be.

And today, I had my first mini harvest.  I ate these yummy veggies within 5 minutes of picking.  YUM!

Cupcake Sandwich

My boys have become cupcake connisours since a local cupcake store opened a location near our home on the east end of the valley.  Michael created a new way to eat them to take full advantage of the lovely frosting on the cupcakes.  He created a "Cupcake Sandwich."

The Peppers Are Coming!

After my gardening adventure earlier this week, I was pleasantly surprised to find some new growth on my Gypsy Sweet Pepper plant.

It's an adorable little sweet pepper!
I can't wait for more to come in, and it looks like I will have quite a few!

If you've never heard of Gypsy Peppers, they are cute little, multi-colored, sweet peppers like these:

My Japanese Eggplant has a couple more blossoms.

And, finally, my spinach is thriving!!
