David Got Into BYU!

After reading on Facebook yesterday that some of my friends' children had been admitted to BYU Provo, I asked David to check his application status this morning.

Lo and behold, he was admitted!

Congratulations, David! We are so very proud of you!

Blue and Gold Dinner Fun

At last night's Cub Scout Blue and Gold Dinner, each table was presented with a challenge to use the materials provided to raise an apple at least 3 inches off the table. Here's the result of our efforts.

Another table got their apple higher, but it didn't hold the entire night, so I think that makes us the winner!

Hail!

We have had some strange weather this year. On Saturday, we had hail while John and I went to the grocery store. Funny thing was that there was no hail at the grocery store, but it was on the ground at home.

Even Prettier...

John bought me some beautiful white tulips for Valentine's Day. After a couple of days, they opened and developed a purple tinge on the petals, making them even more beautiful.

Thanks again, John! I love you!

A Lovely Valentine's Day

Right now, John's work schedule is crazy. He's working 12 hour days, including most Saturdays (although he usually doesn't put in 12 hours on a Saturday). Often, we are like ships passing in the night. I wave good-bye as he leaves for work in the morning. When he returns home at night, I am usually already asleep. Last night, it was much the same. I was groggy, but too tired to get out of bed.

This morning, when I got back from seminary, I noticed that John had bought me some flowers and a card. He is such a wonderful husband!

Thank you! I love you!

Lowe's Kids' Projects

AJ just loves doing the Lowe's kids' projects. Unfortunately, our Lowe's runs out of the kits really fast! Last Saturday, we went by the store, and they were out already. Fortunately, the other store in our valley had some and held a kit for me.

We got there too late to complete the project in the store, so we did it at home. AJ had a fun time, but it was a challenge to do this one (a heart shaped music box). So, he pulled out an old kit we had from last year and finished that one instead. The music box is almost done, but not quite.

Michael grabbed the other one from last year and built a "boat."

Jacob's Birthday Extravaganza!

Jacob had a late class on his birthday, so we had our family celebration the following evening. Jacob's girlfriend, Christina, joined us for dinner (frozen pizza), presents, and homemade cheesecake with strawberries.

Happy Birthday, Jacob! We love you!

You may be asking yourself why we gave food to Jacob. Well, he doesn't like the "healthy" bread I buy, so I bought him his very own loaf of Oroweat Country White Bread. Hopefully he will enjoy it along with his other two favorites (Dr. Pepper and Philadelphia Brand Cheesecake Filling).

John's Sculpture: Final Version (Almost)

I promised to show you John's final sculpture. Well, here it is! There's a little bit of finishing that needs to be done (smoothing it out, etc.), but it's mostly done.

Here's a link to my original post, so you can see that this started as a ball of aluminum foil on a metal frame.

John Is Sculpting Again!

John is working on a short film with a friend and has started a new sculpture for the main character. He hasn't worked on any sculptures for a long time, so it's nice to see him enjoying it again.

This is how it starts (with a drawing and a metal/foil frame and base).

He adds "sculpey" to it.

Then he shapes it.

And refines it.

Makes a few more changes...

I'll be sure to post the final results.

John is an amazingly talented sculptor. Here are a few of his other sculptures.
